Understand the city before choosing a neighbourhood

At Bari Centrale, identify your operator’s station before comparing routes to a home. A connection towards Matera, for example, uses the neighbouring Ferrovie Appulo Lucane station.

Transport and local app

In MUVT, register an account and choose a product for AMTAB buses. The app combines route information, purchasing and validation; its wallet may also hold parking credit, which is a separate service. For card-based passes, use MUVT Card and link your card. Compare your route in the AMTAB planner before choosing a pass.

Airports and intercity travel

Ferrotramviaria connects Karol Wojtyla airport with Bari Centrale and Barletta. A tunnel links arrivals to the railway, around 300 metres away. Choose your destination and date in the official search.

Municipality, residence and digital services

Open “Dichiarazioni di residenza” on the Comune di Bari website. The procedure covers arrivals from abroad and moves within the city; EGOV offers “Cambio di Residenza”. The page also accepts a single PDF by email to ufficio.dichiarazioniresidenza@comune.bari.it. Check the applicable A/B attachments, adult signatures and housing occupancy information before submitting.

Finding housing and setting up utilities

When collecting the keys in Bari, separate the housing paperwork from setting up utilities. The municipality has its own TARI service in EGOV for waste-account records and charges. Ask the landlord for any details you need to check your position; use the national chapter to compare tenancy agreements and costs before signing.

Supermarkets and the first week’s shopping

The Lidl locator lists shops on Via Giulio Petroni 3A, Via di Maratona 3 and Strada San Giorgio Martire. Compare these addresses with your daily route instead of choosing by brand alone. Open the individual shop details to check visiting hours. These are verified shopping examples, without a personal review or sponsorship.

Local healthcare: registration, doctor and appointments

On the ASL Bari site, open “Assistenza e Cura”, then “Cittadini stranieri” for relevant guidance. The portal separates “Scelta e Revoca Medico”, appointment booking and duty pharmacies. Consult “Distretti socio sanitari” to locate the office for your address. Registration and choosing a doctor are separate from booking a consultation; coverage conditions are discussed in the national guide.

Schools, childcare and family support

For school meals in Bari, “Refezione scolastica” links to Omnibus, with SPID/CIE access and separate registration for each child. The 2026/27 application windows ended on 17 September and 15 October 2026. As checked on 25 October 2026, the municipality states that new registrations are not accepted after the extraordinary window. Check for new notices or contact Ufficio Refezione Scolastica before relying on the service: refezionescolastica@comune.bari.it, 080 5773820 or 080 5773815.

School enrolment and meal registration are separate procedures. For registered families, payments and dietary requests follow the service’s own instructions.

Waste collection and TARI

On AMIU Bari, open “Raccolta porta a porta” and choose your neighbourhood’s calendar: Palese/Santo Spirito, San Paolo and Torre a Mare, for example, have separate files. Do not use a business calendar for a home. For furniture and appliances, use “Ingombranti” and confirm the collection arrangement before leaving anything on the street.

Cars, restrictions and parking

MUVT separates paying for parking from renewing a ZSR/ZTL permit. To renew an existing resident permit, AMTAB instructs users to link their ZSR identifier to the account; checks use the vehicle plate. First-time applicants need to consult the issuing requirements. For tyres, driving licences and vehicle documents, continue to the Italy guide.

Month-by-month climate and wetter periods

In this historical reference, the three months with the highest estimated precipitation are November, October, December. Values below show average air temperature and approximate monthly precipitation. They are neither maximum/minimum temperatures nor a forecast for next year.

  • January: 8.8 °C · 62 mm
  • February: 9.1 °C · 49 mm
  • March: 11.3 °C · 59 mm
  • April: 14.2 °C · 50 mm
  • May: 18.6 °C · 38 mm
  • June: 23.4 °C · 35 mm
  • July: 26.6 °C · 29 mm
  • August: 26.7 °C · 28 mm
  • September: 22.4 °C · 57 mm
  • October: 18.1 °C · 71 mm
  • November: 13.9 °C · 77 mm
  • December: 10.1 °C · 68 mm

Method: NASA POWER, 2001–2020 climatology at a city reference point; T2M in °C and PRECTOTCORR in mm/day multiplied by days in each month (February: 28.25). Rounded gridded MERRA-2-derived estimates, not observations at a neighbourhood station. Terrain, urban heat and distance from the sea can change local conditions.

Use the figures to compare ventilation, insulation and heating. Plan rain protection in wetter periods and shaded routes with drinking water in heat. For specific dates, use forecasts and Protezione Civile/municipal alerts. Monthly averages cannot predict a storm, flood or heatwave.

Report issues and discover neighbourhood services

To report urban issues in Bari, use the reporting service on the municipal portal: the Comune announced the gradual retirement of the BariUnica app. Keep the reference number to follow the response. After arranging practical tasks, explore the Colibrì library network linked by the municipality to find neighbourhood spaces and activities.
