Use the right timetable for each operator

AMTS introduced winter weekday timetables on 14 September 2026; FCE bus routes change on 15 September. These are separate networks and calendars. When comparing homes, plan outward and return journeys with each leg’s operator, including walking and waiting. A saved summer timetable may no longer work for your first week at a new job.

AMTS and FCE: validate in the operator’s system

AMTS onboard readers validate electronic ticket QR codes; electronic onboard sales include validation. Its fare page conflicts on expiry before use: the text says 15 days, the table three. Check the validity displayed at purchase and avoid buying far ahead without clarifying the difference.

In FCE Catania, open “Titoli” and generate the QR while connected, before entering the station. Validate before travelling. Integrated products exist, but select the actual bus and metro coverage required; the old AMTS 2018 table is not a current fare reference.

Alibus includes urban buses; ordinary tickets do not include Alibus

An Alibus ticket covers the airport connection and other AMTS urban routes for 90 minutes. Ordinary urban or FCE tickets do not authorise Alibus travel. Use the official route and updated timetable to choose the stop for your address.

Validate AMTS Smart Ticketing purchases onboard. Onboard machines and electronic sales by staff issue validated tickets; the published instructions suspend traditional cash sales by the operator. Have an accepted payment option ready before boarding.

Arriving from abroad: contact Ufficio Stranieri

In Catania Semplice, follow Servizi Demografici e Decentramento → Cambio di residenza. The description limits online submission to transfers from another Italian municipality, with separate Italian and foreign-citizen applications. For initial arrival from abroad, confirm the route with ufficio.stranieri@comune.catania.it, 095 7424353 or 095 7424355.

The demographic office is at via Alessandro La Marmora 23. Explain your origin and documents before arranging an appointment or submitting anything: an internal-transfer form is not a universal route for every arrival in Italy. The national guide covers stay requirements and digital identity.

TARI declarations and bills have distinct channels

Catania Semplice’s Tributi → Tari offers Denuncia Tari, cancellation, reduction and exemption applications. It lists tari@comune.catania.it, 095 2931727, at Palazzo dei Chierici, Piazza Duomo 3. On taking the keys, confirm which declaration applies to your occupancy.

Etn@online lets you check the account, print the notice and pay through PagoPA with SPID. Prepare floor area, occupancy start and cadastral details for the declaration; request these from the owner along with a breakdown of costs included in rent.

Choose the shop around your journey home

Lidl’s locator lists via Felice Fontana 36, via Martino Cilestri 75/77 and Corso Indipendenza 77–79 among its branches. Open the selected shop’s page for hours and services. Match the journey to your shopping load: a convenient driving location may be awkward with bags on the bus. These listings do not promise Brazilian product availability.

ASP Con Te allows SPID or manual registration

In ASP Con Te → Servizi Territoriali, activate an account through SPID or manual registration with email confirmation. Requests use uploaded documents and SMS OTP; track progress in the platform. Choosing or revoking a family doctor or paediatrician is among the services.

The in-person alternative is the Ufficio Anagrafe Assistiti for your residence/domicile district. ASP supplies separate doctor and paediatrician forms; the latter needs both parents’ signatures. Its instructions ask people arriving from another province for the previous revocation certificate. Confirm health registration and your category’s documents before requesting a change.

For specialist appointments, use CUP 800 954414 or ASP’s booking channel. A portal account does not replace a referral or automatically establish health coverage.

School meals: applications moved to another portal

Catania Semplice’s Refezione scolastica page directs new applications to Urbi, using SPID/CIE. The login screen opened on 14 September 2026; the form after login and a 2026/27 deadline were not verified. Confirm opening and documents with refezione.scolastica@comune.catania.it or 095 7424014.

Use “Accesso Urbi” below if the old page’s link fails. Prepare a current ISEE: the municipal page says residents without it receive the highest contribution band. School enrolment and meals require separate applications; national enrolment rules are in the Italy guide.

Identify your address’s North, Centre or South lot

Differenziamo Catania divides collection into three lots. Choose the zone before consulting the household calendar and disposal instructions; schools use the non-household calendar. The linked app covers calendars, collection centres and bulky/electrical waste.

Contacts differ: North, 800 984597; Centre, 800 409866; South, 800 328590 from a landline or 095 291689 from a mobile. Ask the operator if your home is near a boundary. A company’s footer address is not necessarily a waste drop-off point.

Apply for the correct area and number plate

AMTS distinguishes ZTL Centro Storico from pedestrian areas such as Piazza Bellini, via Etnea and San Giovanni Li Cuti. Applications and renewals use the portal linked from “Permessi Aree Pedonali e ZTL”. Contact ztl@amts.ct.it, 095 7519367 or 095 7519368.

AMTS’s linked operating rules provide for electronic checks and a permit tied to one plate. Confirm your category and access before driving to the property’s door; nearby parking does not grant permission. The Italy guide covers national driving-licence, insurance and tyre rules.

Month-by-month climate and wetter periods

In this historical reference, the three months with the highest estimated precipitation are November, December, October. Values below show average air temperature and approximate monthly precipitation. They are neither maximum/minimum temperatures nor a forecast for next year.

  • January: 8.4 °C · 67 mm
  • February: 8.6 °C · 61 mm
  • March: 11.1 °C · 51 mm
  • April: 14.1 °C · 36 mm
  • May: 18.4 °C · 16 mm
  • June: 23.6 °C · 13 mm
  • July: 27.2 °C · 7 mm
  • August: 27.3 °C · 11 mm
  • September: 22.8 °C · 53 mm
  • October: 18.6 °C · 70 mm
  • November: 13.8 °C · 83 mm
  • December: 9.9 °C · 80 mm

Method: NASA POWER, 2001–2020 climatology at a city reference point; T2M in °C and PRECTOTCORR in mm/day multiplied by days in each month (February: 28.25). Rounded gridded MERRA-2-derived estimates, not observations at a neighbourhood station. Terrain, urban heat and distance from the sea can change local conditions.

Use the figures to compare ventilation, insulation and heating. Plan rain protection in wetter periods and shaded routes with drinking water in heat. For specific dates, use forecasts and Protezione Civile/municipal alerts. Monthly averages cannot predict a storm, flood or heatwave.

Order your applications around your situation

Keep a list of the property address, procedure, required documents, reference number and next step. Separate items awaiting an authority’s confirmation from completed tasks. If a portal does not fit your case, describe the problem to the listed help desk and save the response before trying another form.

For daily life, keep outward and return routes, health contacts and the waste calendar with your household documents. If information differs, send the URL and current source to MyCommunity.Living for correction.
