Choose housing by the uphill journey

The Zecca–Righi funicular starts at largo Zecca and serves stations including Carbonara, San Nicolò and Madonnetta before Righi. Use AMT’s impianti speciali map to connect the building entrance to a station, beyond straight-line distance.

App AMT offers separate lift and funicular notifications. When viewing housing, check stairs, an alternative route and access with shopping bags. National arrival procedures are collected in the Italy guide.

Ordinary ticket or rail-integrated ticket

On 14 September 2026, the ordinary AMT ticket cost €2 and lasted 110 minutes after validation. It excludes Volabus, the Genova–Casella railway and line 782, except for the published local-resident exception.

The €2.20 AMT–Trenitalia ticket also lasts 110 minutes and includes one second-class rail journey within the urban limits listed by the source. If using bus and train, validate both spaces on the paper ticket. Check rail boundaries before travelling outside the city.

Volabus: choose the station and fare

Volabus connects the airport with Principe and Brignole. On 14 September 2026, accepted products included the 24-hour Met Daily and the listed annual passes, excluding Linee Periferiche e Ascensori.

Stops differ by direction: open Orario and check the final connection. Choosing a station near your accommodation may avoid another journey with bags; do not treat the advertised roughly 30-minute ride as a guarantee for your flight.

Residence: origin and citizenship determine the channel

For arrivals from another municipality or abroad, the municipal page requires all five form pages, adult signatures and category-specific attachments. It lists municipal online, email/PEC and postal channels; questions: 010 5576820, Monday–Friday, 10:00–12:00.

The separate EU-citizen page was marked unavailable for an update on 14 September 2026. It retains anagrafecittadiniue@comune.genova.it and 010 5576957. Confirm the current alternative with that office instead of assuming the online button works.

Agenzia Sociale per la Casa: check eligibility

The municipal agency matches owners with prospective tenants of private canone concordato/moderato housing. Expressions of interest last one year; verifiable income, ISEE, housing and lawful-stay conditions form part of the requirements. Read A chi è rivolto before applying.

Contacts are agenziacasa@comune.genova.it and 010 5573553. The office is in the Matitone, via di Francia 1, floor 16, sector 8; application submission uses a separate protocol service. Joining the list does not mean immediate housing.

Via Bari: include the address suffix

Carrefour Express is at via Bari 12R, 16127 Genova, phone 010 2349021. On 14 September 2026, listed hours were Monday–Saturday 08:00–21:00 and Sunday 09:00–20:30; holiday hours may differ.

Use the complete address when planning the route and compare the uphill walk with shops nearer home. This store listing does not establish delivery to your address or Brazilian-ingredient stock.

Choose the district before the ASL3 desk

ASL3’s directory groups offices by district. Examples: Centro, via Assarotti 35; Sampierdarena, via Operai 80; Prà, via de Mari 1b. Access limits and hours differ; there is no single queue for all Genova.

The foreign-citizen page distinguishes registration categories and documents. Explain your circumstances to the relevant desk; choosing a doctor and establishing coverage are separate steps. Check temporary notices in the directory before travelling.

Nurseries 2026/2027: check deadlines and current sites

Ordinary 2026/2027 nursery applications closed on 19 April. For later arrivals, ask funzionamento06@comune.genova.it or 800 661717 about options; an active page does not prove new applications are open.

The municipal notice for 14 September places Rondine at piazza Stanislao Solari 3, first floor, and Arcobaleno temporarily on the ground floor there. Girasole temporarily moves to piazza Manzoni 2. Confirm your child’s site before planning the journey.

Furniture: book before taking it to the entrance

AMIU collects up to five items free at the entrance, by appointment with the resident or representative present. Use 800 957700 (landline), 010 8980800 (mobile) or AMYOU/Contattaci, with your codice fiscale or TARI identifier. Collection inside the home costs extra.

Arrange space and transport to the agreed collection point; keep the passage clear while awaiting collection.

Centro Storico and via Cairoli have distinct rules

Centro Storico’s ZTL operates around the clock, every day, with electronic number-plate checks. Via Cairoli becomes a pedestrian area from 11:30 to 19:00, with specific access categories.

Consult the disciplinare for your vehicle, purpose and address. Arrange removal or delivery access with the carrier beforehand; parking permission does not establish driving authorisation.

Month-by-month climate and wetter periods

In this historical reference, the three months with the highest estimated precipitation are November, October, December. Values below show average air temperature and approximate monthly precipitation. They are neither maximum/minimum temperatures nor a forecast for next year.

  • January: 4.0 °C · 56 mm
  • February: 4.8 °C · 60 mm
  • March: 8.2 °C · 71 mm
  • April: 11.8 °C · 71 mm
  • May: 15.7 °C · 67 mm
  • June: 20.3 °C · 47 mm
  • July: 23.2 °C · 34 mm
  • August: 23.1 °C · 49 mm
  • September: 19.0 °C · 61 mm
  • October: 14.2 °C · 97 mm
  • November: 9.0 °C · 145 mm
  • December: 5.0 °C · 79 mm

Method: NASA POWER, 2001–2020 climatology at a city reference point; T2M in °C and PRECTOTCORR in mm/day multiplied by days in each month (February: 28.25). Rounded gridded MERRA-2-derived estimates, not observations at a neighbourhood station. Terrain, urban heat and distance from the sea can change local conditions.

Use the figures to compare ventilation, insulation and heating. Plan rain protection in wetter periods and shaded routes with drinking water in heat. For specific dates, use forecasts and Protezione Civile/municipal alerts. Monthly averages cannot predict a storm, flood or heatwave.
