Compare walking routes with Metrominuto

The municipal Metrominuto map connects parks, parking areas, university and hospital sites with distances and average walking times. It is an orientation diagram, not an underground railway.

When assessing housing, mark your weekly destinations and check the actual route, including crossings and access with luggage. Treat the times as a reference and adjust to your pace. National arrival documents and procedures are collected in the Italy guide.

Buses: €2, 75 minutes and validation at every boarding

On 14 September 2026, SETA lists €2 for Urbano Modena bought before boarding or by contactless; buying from the driver or an onboard coin machine costs €2.70. Validity is 75 minutes, with another validation when changing vehicles. The €1.50 one-zone ticket is not valid on Modena urban services.

With contactless, use the same card or device throughout the journey; the €6 urban daily fare applies after three purchases that day. For travel beyond the municipality, check the route fare instead of assuming urban coverage extends across the province.

Aerbus: check the stop and payment method

The 2026 timetable connects Modena Autostazione, lane 1, with Bologna airport, including Stazione FS–via Monte Kosica, Stazione Piccola and Terminal Gottardi. The first bus leaves the coach station at 04:20; the last leaves the airport at 00:30.

On 14 September, the full one-way fare was €16.15 online by card, €17 by PayPal, €17.50 by card onboard or €20 cash onboard. Check your specific stop time and allow for check-in and traffic; scheduled arrival is not guaranteed. The website lists free luggage transport.

Anagrafe on via Santi: appointment or guidance

Anagrafe is at via Venceslao Santi 40. Service desks require an appointment and booking code; the information point for guidance and booking uses queue tickets and separate hours. Questions: 059 2032077.

In the municipal appointment system, select the procedure and check its documents before choosing a time. Keep the number emailed to you. Explain whether you are moving within Modena, from another municipality or registering for the first time after arriving from abroad; attachments depend on your circumstances.

Agenzia Casa and routes for employees

Agenzia Casa arranges housing and rooms; consult its regulations and the Ufficio servizi per la casa, via Venceslao Santi 60, about eligibility and applications. Registration does not establish immediate availability.

July 2026 agreements created a specific route for SETA staff and professionals employed by AOU, AUSL and Ospedale di Sassuolo. The respective employers check eligibility and nominate beneficiaries; newcomers employed there should ask their employer about the procedure. Allocation is generally temporary, for 12 months, with possible renewal.

A grocery reference in the Canaletto area

Esselunga di via Canaletto is at Strada Canaletto Sud 109, phone 0599 785352. On 14 September 2026, listed hours were Monday–Saturday 07:30–21:00 and Sunday 08:00–20:00, with covered and open parking.

Check holiday changes and compare the route with neighbourhood shops. The listing does not confirm Brazilian-ingredient stock or delivery to your address.

Registration and doctor: one complete AUSL request

AUSL provides a combined SSN-registration and doctor-choice form for non-EU citizens. Submit it at the district office or send the complete form and attachments to sportelloonline@pec.ausl.mo.it; the page accepts ordinary email and PEC. Additional documents depend on your circumstances, and doctor selection is subject to vacancies.

One in-person option is the Punto unico at viale Vittorio Veneto 15, ground floor of Casa della comunità Ghassan Daya. Book on 059 5130130, Monday–Friday 08:30–13:00, or through the portal linked on its page. Those telephone hours do not mean walk-in access.

Nurseries: closed deadline and unconfirmed late channel

Ordinary 2026/2027 applications closed on 13 April; they covered children born in 2024–2026, with residence, vaccination and priority rules. A fuori termine page for 2024/2025 births exists, but its content and form did not load during the 14 September 2026 check. We cannot confirm it is accepting applications.

For arrivals during the year, contact nidi.infanzia@comune.modena.it or 059 2032786, stating the birth year and moving date. Ask about waiting lists, documents and any prolungamento orario; extended hours are a separate service, not a guaranteed nursery place.

Carta Smeraldo: check your address-specific system

Collect the initial kit, including Carta Smeraldo and containers, at Hera, via Cesare Razzaboni 80; lost or damaged cards are replaced there too. Municipal charging has used TCP since 2025. Check the property’s account and its calendar in Il Rifiutologo.

The July 2026 rollout of paper and plastic bins included the Nonantolana–Repubblica di Montefiorino–Santa Caterina–Ciro Menotti area. They open with Carta Smeraldo and take loose material. Rural forese and ZAI industrial areas retain bag-based doorstep collection; do not apply another neighbourhood’s rules.

ZTL: round-the-clock cameras and stricter sections

ZTL number-plate checks operate 24 hours a day. Via Emilia Centro, between vicolo Squallore and via Torre, and Corso Duomo have checks in both directions and stricter rules.

Before taking a removal vehicle into the centre, open the tipologia di permesso page and check the category and registration with the carrier. An address inside the ZTL does not automatically authorise the vehicle; also check pedestrian areas and reserved lanes along the route.

Month-by-month climate and wetter periods

In this historical reference, the three months with the highest estimated precipitation are November, October, May. Values below show average air temperature and approximate monthly precipitation. They are neither maximum/minimum temperatures nor a forecast for next year.

  • January: 2.7 °C · 44 mm
  • February: 3.7 °C · 57 mm
  • March: 7.6 °C · 55 mm
  • April: 11.9 °C · 54 mm
  • May: 16.6 °C · 60 mm
  • June: 21.9 °C · 49 mm
  • July: 24.8 °C · 39 mm
  • August: 24.4 °C · 39 mm
  • September: 18.8 °C · 59 mm
  • October: 13.7 °C · 78 mm
  • November: 8.0 °C · 89 mm
  • December: 3.7 °C · 53 mm

Method: NASA POWER, 2001–2020 climatology at a city reference point; T2M in °C and PRECTOTCORR in mm/day multiplied by days in each month (February: 28.25). Rounded gridded MERRA-2-derived estimates, not observations at a neighbourhood station. Terrain, urban heat and distance from the sea can change local conditions.

Use the figures to compare ventilation, insulation and heating. Plan rain protection in wetter periods and shaded routes with drinking water in heat. For specific dates, use forecasts and Protezione Civile/municipal alerts. Monthly averages cannot predict a storm, flood or heatwave.
