Choose around the actual destination

UniTS has campuses in Trieste, Gorizia, Portogruaro and Pordenone. Students should ask their coordinator where classes take place before renting. The university’s name does not mean the course is based in Trieste.

To compare addresses, open Tempo reale on TPL FVG, locate a stop and inspect its routes. Try the final walk with luggage or shopping too. National document requirements are in the Italy guide.

Contactless and app tickets work differently

On Trieste’s urban buses, tap your card or device at every boarding and wait for green confirmation. Each card covers one person; show the same card or device during inspection. This onboard payment does not cover extraurban buses.

The TPL FVG app requires an email-confirmed profile and a connection for validation. It shows scheduled times, not live positions. App tickets remain tied to the device; do not plan to send them to someone else’s phone.

From the airport to rail or bus

Trieste Airport’s elevated walkway connects the terminal with the bus hub and Trieste Airport railway stop. Distinguish that stop from Trieste Centrale when planning.

Buses to Trieste terminate at the autostazione in largo Città di Santos. Check the travel planner for your flight date; tickets are available in the app, at the hub’s ticket office and at the machines identified by the operator. Allow for walking and your final connection without assuming an urban ticket covers the journey.

Arriving from another municipality or country

Open Iscrizione per residenza and download the declaration: annex A for non-EU citizens, B for EU citizens. You must already live at the declared address. Hand delivery goes to SAC, via Punta del Forno 2; post goes to Anagrafe, Passo Costanzi 2.

The page also explains electronic submission and signatures. Foreign arrivals registering for the first time should use the municipal procedure; the national guide explains ANPR’s scope. Questions: variazioneres@comune.trieste.it.

Housing for study and research

Welcome Office FVG separates ARDIS accommodation from private rentals. ARDIS requires an application under its annual call and enrolment, income and merit conditions; it is not guaranteed accommodation for every newcomer.

On the same page, Private accommodation explains room and flat searches. Confirm duration, included expenses and the advertiser’s identity before booking. Use the national housing chapter for contract types and household bills.

Plan a shop on Strada per Vienna

Conad at Strada per Vienna 61 lists telephone 040 215433, parking and access without architectural barriers. On 14 September 2026, listed hours were Monday–Saturday 08:00–20:00 and Sunday 08:30–13:00.

Use this example to compare with your route; it does not establish Brazilian-product stock or home delivery. Check holidays on the store page and your return journey before buying bulky items.

ASUGI: book the appropriate desk

ASUGI lists 040 399 6450 for via Stock 2 and Opicina, 040 399 6209 for via Valmaura 59, and 040 399 7404 for via Sai 7. Registration requires an appointment.

Check calling hours and documents with your chosen desk. Mandatory or voluntary registration depends on your circumstances, as explained in the national guide.

Nursery: calendar and late applications

The Nidi d’infanzia page brings together the call, fees and SPID/CIE/CNS access. Ordinary applications use the announced January–February window; late applications are considered only if places remain.

It distinguishes residents from families temporarily present for work, study or health, with separate conditions. Ask Sportello Nidi, via del Teatro Romano 7/F, about your circumstances. An application does not guarantee admission.

Used furniture: arrange collection first

Querciambiente collects household bulky waste for AcegasApsAmga in Trieste. Call 800 955 988 and await a callback with the date. The described free service is at street level, accessible to the vehicle without stairs.

Put items out only after arranging collection, on the indicated previous evening. Confirm quantity and conditions; street collection does not include carrying items from your flat. Waste-tax registration is a separate matter.

Borgo Teresiano and pedestrian areas

On the Comune’s ZTL portal, select the permit type: Borgo Teresiano residents use the type B ZTL procedure; temporary access needs in pedestrian areas have a separate application.

Check the map, conditions and signs before driving or arranging a move. A destination address does not automatically authorise entry. Foreign licences, insurance and winter equipment are covered in the national guide.

Month-by-month climate and wetter periods

In this historical reference, the three months with the highest estimated precipitation are November, September, October. Values below show average air temperature and approximate monthly precipitation. They are neither maximum/minimum temperatures nor a forecast for next year.

  • January: 3.5 °C · 68 mm
  • February: 4.2 °C · 82 mm
  • March: 7.5 °C · 72 mm
  • April: 11.9 °C · 69 mm
  • May: 16.4 °C · 89 mm
  • June: 20.8 °C · 74 mm
  • July: 23.3 °C · 60 mm
  • August: 23.1 °C · 79 mm
  • September: 18.4 °C · 113 mm
  • October: 13.9 °C · 102 mm
  • November: 9.3 °C · 123 mm
  • December: 5.0 °C · 96 mm

Method: NASA POWER, 2001–2020 climatology at a city reference point; T2M in °C and PRECTOTCORR in mm/day multiplied by days in each month (February: 28.25). Rounded gridded MERRA-2-derived estimates, not observations at a neighbourhood station. Terrain, urban heat and distance from the sea can change local conditions.

Use the figures to compare ventilation, insulation and heating. Plan rain protection in wetter periods and shaded routes with drinking water in heat. For specific dates, use forecasts and Protezione Civile/municipal alerts. Monthly averages cannot predict a storm, flood or heatwave.

When you do not know which office to contact

The municipal URP provides service and application guidance at urp@comune.trieste.it. Use the same page’s telephone directory to locate the responsible department.

Explain which service you need and whether you require an alternative to digital access. Keep the reference from your formal application. To report a change in this guide, send the passage, source and date through MyCommunity’s contact page; personal documents are unnecessary.
