A practical guide to living in Torino
Plan daily life in Torino with City and Daily fares, arrival via Porta Susa, residence options without mandatory SPID, ASL desks, LoCARe criteria and actual nursery timelines.
Test a weekday journey and an evening return
Before choosing housing, compare the trip to work or school at the actual time and check the last possible return. An address in Torino does not guarantee a journey on just one urban route: note the destination, operator and connections.
On 14 September 2026, the Night Buster page still presented the 17-route summer network, valid 26 June–12 September on Fridays, Saturdays and holiday eves. That period has ended. Do not use the summer map as a promise of daily service or current outer-area coverage; open the route and check the date before relying on a night bus.

City and Daily: format and validity affect the price
City costs €1.90 digitally or €2 on chip on paper: 100 minutes, one metro journey and validation when changing vehicles. Daily costs €3.70 digitally or €4.50 physically and ends with that day’s service, rather than after 24 hours. Ordinary urban tickets exclude trains.
TO Move sells tickets on your phone. Before leaving, choose the ticket for the journey, check validation and keep your phone available for inspection. For an appointment with outward and return trips several hours apart, compare Daily with two City trips; do not count on a second metro entry using the same City ticket.

Caselle: the train serves Porta Susa
The airport lists a rail link to Porta Susa taking about half an hour, a station opposite arrivals and a €3.70 fare. On weekdays it publishes airport departures between 06:00 and 22:28; from Porta Susa, between 05:01 and 21:25. Check the timetable for your date.
Porta Susa and Porta Nuova are different stations. If accommodation or your next train is at Porta Nuova, include the connection. For a very early flight or delayed arrival, do not assume a train will be running: compare alternatives and allow for disembarkation and luggage.

Residence: via della Consolata and an option without digital identity
The municipal service offers submission with SPID/CIE/CNS and guided completion without digital identity. In-person service is by appointment at central anagrafe, via della Consolata 23. For information, call 011 011 25380. EU and non-EU citizens have different attachments.
Choose the procedure matching where you are moving from. The email for a child moving between parents’ homes is not a universal residence channel. Prepare the national documents first; if you cannot complete the form, seek municipal guidance instead of repeatedly submitting through different routes.

LoCARe has eligibility rules; housing is not automatic for newcomers
ASLo registration requires, among other criteria, at least one year of residence or continuous work in Torino and ISEE up to €26,000. Further conditions cover property and previous benefits across the household. Read the complete list before declaring eligibility.
LoCARe is at via Orvieto 1/20/A, with guidance on 011 011 24300, Monday–Friday 08:30–12:00, and iscrizionelocare@comune.torino.it. Registration can support mediation and incentives for a qualifying contract; it does not provide a home automatically. Recent arrivals should ask which alternatives fit their circumstances.

Corso Bramante: an option with covered parking
Esselunga at corso Bramante 21 lists Monday–Saturday 07:30–21:00 and Sunday 08:00–20:00, phone 011 3042740. The listing includes covered parking, a parafarmacia and home delivery.
Compare this store with shops along your usual route before a large grocery trip. Advertised delivery does not confirm coverage or an available slot at your address; check that step before building an order. Check holiday hours separately.

ASL: choose the district desk and arrive before ticket distribution ends
The 4 September 2026 list gives, for example, via Juvarra 19 for Centro/Crocetta and corso Corsica 55 for district council area 8. General hours are Monday–Friday 08:00–14:00, with queue tickets until 13:30. Via Botticelli 130 opens at 10:00.
For doctor selection, check the area and availability: family doctors cover ASL Città di Torino, while paediatricians cover the district. Bring identification, codice fiscale and documents matching registration or transfer. Selecting a paediatrician for a minor has its own form and signature requirements; check before visiting.
A September nursery application joins the list in November
For 2026/2027, applications from 11 September to 5 November join the end of the final list on 24 November. The last late deadline is 18 February 2027. Applicants needing help or without SPID can book Sportello Iscrizioni: 011 011 26044 or 011 011 26637.
Submitting now does not create an immediate September place. Plan interim childcare and follow notifications for your own application. Distinguish joining the list, being offered a place and accepting it; do not arrange a job start based only on a submission receipt.

Amiat: address-specific calendars and bag-collection times
Amiat provides the collection method and calendar by address. Before copying another household’s routine, check whether your building uses doorstep or nearby collection and agree who moves the bins with the building management.
Plastic bags can be collected at via Ravina 19/A and via Zini 139 on Wednesday 08:30–12:00 and Saturday 14:30–18:00; at via Germagnano 48/A on Wednesday and Saturday 08:00–18:00. These are bag-collection hours, not permission to dispose of anything. Anyone bringing another person’s waste should check the centre’s delegation requirement.

ZTL: the morning restriction ending does not open every street
ZTL Centrale restricts driving and parking on working days except Saturday, 07:30–10:30. Additional rules apply: Area Romana has night restrictions and pedestrian zones operate 24 hours. Check the whole route, not just your first entry time.
In June 2026, the Comune approved automatic plate recognition at participating car parks, with stays over 30 minutes and operation planned after summer. That news does not confirm operation at every garage. Before entering, ask the selected car park how your plate will be authorised and keep evidence; payment is not a general access permit.
Month-by-month climate and wetter periods
In this historical reference, the three months with the highest estimated precipitation are November, May, April. Values below show average air temperature and approximate monthly precipitation. They are neither maximum/minimum temperatures nor a forecast for next year.
- January: 1.2 °C · 37 mm
- February: 2.3 °C · 43 mm
- March: 6.3 °C · 54 mm
- April: 10.4 °C · 76 mm
- May: 14.6 °C · 93 mm
- June: 19.4 °C · 76 mm
- July: 21.8 °C · 59 mm
- August: 21.4 °C · 59 mm
- September: 16.9 °C · 59 mm
- October: 11.7 °C · 66 mm
- November: 6.1 °C · 105 mm
- December: 1.9 °C · 52 mm
Method: NASA POWER, 2001–2020 climatology at a city reference point; T2M in °C and PRECTOTCORR in mm/day multiplied by days in each month (February: 28.25). Rounded gridded MERRA-2-derived estimates, not observations at a neighbourhood station. Terrain, urban heat and distance from the sea can change local conditions.
Use the figures to compare ventilation, insulation and heating. Plan rain protection in wetter periods and shaded routes with drinking water in heat. For specific dates, use forecasts and Protezione Civile/municipal alerts. Monthly averages cannot predict a storm, flood or heatwave.
Punto Informativo Unificato: bring a specific question
PIU is at piazza Palazzo di Città 9/a; contacts are piu@comune.torino.it and 011 011 23010. The email urp@comune.torino.it is listed for document access, formal requests and petitions, a different purpose from general guidance.
Note the procedure name, your question and what you have tried. Ask for the responsible office and whether an appointment is needed. This avoids visiting an administrative site that does not deliver the service. To correct this guide, send MyCommunity the passage, source and date; personal reports need that context.
